Oh dear sweet lord. Politico’s Kiki Ryan reports that fliers advertising a possible mayoral run by alleged White House crasher Carlos Allen are popping up around town.
Allen’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that it is “an accurate document.”
Allen tells POLITICO his campaign is in an “exploratory” phase: “I want to see what people are saying and go from there,” he said.
Hilarious. Well, DCist commenters, you heard ‘im. Allen, the same guy who continued to claim he was invited to the White House state dinner even though he pretty clearly wasn’t, the same guy who runs a really lame looking magazine and a mysterious party house in Mt. Pleasant but is otherwise a total unknown, would like to find out what people are saying about the possibility of him running for mayor. We see no other responsible course of action but to oblige him.
We’ll get the ball rolling. Kindly note that Allen’s image on this flier has been superimposed over … the U.S. Capitol. We could see choosing the White House, since that’s the building he’s lately most associated with. We could see choosing the John A. Wilson Building, since that’s actually where the D.C. mayor, you know, works. But the Capitol? That’s about as bold a graphic non sequitur as we’ve run across in a long time.
