The Washington Post hosted a big roundtable this morning featuring an impressive collection of the people who run D.C.’s professional sports concerns — Wizards and Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, D.C. United owner Will Chang and Robert Tanenbaum and Marla Lerner Tanenbaum, owners of the Nationals. Of course, there was one man who most people were looking forward to hearing from — Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder. He did not fail to deliver.
Most of the Post’s sports staff and a some of the paper’s business reporters are attended the conference and tweeted up a storm, but Dan Steinberg’s above relay from the proceedings pretty much says everything you need to know about why everyone really dislikes Snyder and thinks he’s a cancer on the once-proud Redskins franchise.
Nothing to improve, eh?
Of course, that wasn’t the only gem Snyder produced this morning. When asked what he thought his worst financial move was while in charge of the Redskins, Snyder said “I don’t have to answer this, you all know.” (Was it that there was too many to choose from?) Then, speaking about Leonsis’ tireless dedication to improving the fan experience at the Verizon Center — and specifically, the installation of urinal cup holders at the arena — Snyder added: “We can’t top that. It’s too good.”
Hail to endless mediocrity.
