Good morning, Washington. No, your blurry eyes from last night’s drinking are not deceived, there is a small dusting of snow on the ground. It’s mostly sticking to rooftops of buildings and cars from my vantage point in the District, but southern and western suburbs have gotten up to an inch or two. Seems like the sun today will melt most of it.

>> Yesterday, Vince Gray signed an executive order allowing D.C. cab drivers to charge a $1 fuel surcharge. It begins Monday and will last through July 25, unless the D.C. Taxicab Commission chooses to repeal it earlier. The silver lining? The surcharge won’t apply to taxi fares that cross into Maryland or Virginia.

>> Google Maps goes back to the future: it seems that a glitch allows you to take the entire stretch of the Intercounty Connector, even though only the first portion has opened. WTOP reports that the ICC is sometimes given as the first suggested route. Better? The road doesn’t yet exist on Google Maps so they suggest you drive along a stretch of empty space.

>> Yesterday afternoon, a man was shot by police in Montgomery County in Aspen Hill.
Police report that a man carrying a broken, sharp bottle approached an officer. The officer first tased the man, which didn’t phase the man, so then the officer shot him multiple times. The man is expected to survive his wounds. There was a separate shooting early this morning on 1200 block of 11th St NW. No further word on the circumstances involved. Prince of Petworth reports that the shooting was a homicide, and a suspect has been arrested. Two men got in an argument outside of an establishment on the block, and one shot the other in the upper torso.
