UPDATE (11:30 a.m.): DCist reader Jonathan Stroud was pumping gas at the station across the street from the intersection where the accident occurred. “The SUV was trying to catch the light,” Stroud tells us, “[and when] that Ford in the background nosed out, the SUV slammed the brakes, turned, and flipped over.”
Stroud continued: “I ran over, there was a kid (probably 23 or so) in a yellow shirt and khakis who crawled out without my help, stood up. He had glass in his hair. The other guy driving the Ford looked like he was on his way to work, asked if the kid was okay, and the kid seemed responsive, but we told him to sit regardless. Crazy.”
Crazy, indeed.
This incredible image of an overturned vehicle comes to us courtesy reader Matt Singerman, who snapped it at the intersection of 22nd and P Streets NW around 8:15 a.m. this morning. According to D.C. Fire and EMS, emergency crews were evaluating only “minor” injuries, which is incredible considering that the vehicle is completely turned on its roof. No word yet on what caused the vehicle to flip so dramatically, but it was cleared from the scene by 9:50 a.m.
