Jaylin Wright

A D.C. vice detective, already charged with first-degree murder in the death of a woman who was found dead earlier this week in Prince George’s County, has now also been charged with manslaughter in the death of her 11-month-old daughter.

New charges against 41-year-old Richmond Phillips, who has served on the Metropolitan Police Department force for several years, were read today in court. Phillips stands accused of killing Wynetta Wright; prosecutors are also alleging that he left Wright’s daughter, Jaylin, inside a car after committing the murder, leading to her death. Wright and Phillips had been battling over whether or not Phillips was actually Jaylin’s father, but both Wright and the child went missing the night before a court date on the matter.

According to WUSA9, Wright’s relatives shouted “monster” and “trash” during Phillips’ court appearance today.
