Last October, Craigslist — for whatever reason — decided that they wanted to figure out the most “romantic” Metro station. Using the rock solid methodology of “counting the number of missed connections at any given station,” they came up with Vienna/Fairfax‐GMU. And it turns out other major metropolises have nothing on suburban Virginia.

Applying the same methodology to four other transit systems around the county — Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston and New York — Craigslist found that Vienna was the transit stop where the most connections were missed, outpacing other busy stations, like Temple University-Cecil B. Moore in Philadelphia, Addison in Chicago (which sits right next to Wrigley Field) and Broadway in New York.

Craigslist’s “Train Romance Index Score Total” metric (yup, TRIST) also found that Chicago takes the “most romantic” system honors, featuring half of the “most romantic” stations in the top ten.

Of course, with the D.C. “study” calling the Blue Line a place where “love goes to die,” we can’t say we’re surprised that WMATA’s other stations weren’t highlighted among the most lovey-dovey.
