WMATA believes that the man who was struck by a train at the Friendship Heights station yesterday afternoon — causing massive delays and confusion during yesterday’s afternoon commute — was on the tracks accidentally. According to the Post, the transit agency does not “believe this was intentional” and that the man, a D.C. resident in his 40s who is not a WMATA employee, was traveling by himself.
The man remains alive, although in serious condition. His injuries were described as potentially life-threatening yesterday.
