Photo by Chris Rief aka Spodie Odie.A Metropolitan Police Department officer has been removed from active duty and placed under investigation after she allegedly ignored a murder committed by a man with whom she was “romantically linked.”
The officer, who worked in the Second District but has not been identified by the department, stands accused of watching 32-year-old Ricardo Mitchell fire at least nine shots from a .40 caliber pistol at 33-year-old Wyatt Robinson on the 3900 block of Clay Place NE on August 21. After the shooting, which was reportedly captured on surveillance cameras, police arrested Mitchell and charged him with first degree murder; the officer in question initially told detectives she had not seen the crime, but later recanted.
The ten-year veteran could face charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact, depending on the results of the investigation.
