Yesterday, the Metropolitan Police Department announced that they had made two arrests in connection with the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Demetrius Emmanuel Thompson on a Metrobus last Thursday.
The two suspects, who had been captured on a video surveillance camera mounted inside the bus, were corralled by authorities from the US Marshals Task Force in Orlando, Florida. D.C. residents Delron Atchison and — I swear we’re not making this up — Vincent Gray were arrested on fugitive from justice charges and are currently pending extradition to Washington, where they will both be charged with second-degree murder.
Thompson, who had two young children, was shot and killed as the W4 bus he was riding made a stop at 2125 Alabama Avenue SE around 12:08 a.m. on October 20. A group of men reportedly shot Thompson in the face inside the bus, then fled. Thompson died after he was transported to a local hospital.
