Seeing and hearing jets fly over the District is nothing new for Washington residents. That said, you’d be excused from checking out the headline on this AP item — “Military training flights soaring over region” — and simply moving along.

But then you’d miss this little nugget of information!

Officials say in a news release that the exercise will consist of training flights that are scheduled to take place two different time periods each day — 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.

After all, there’s nothing more relaxing than being rattled out of a deep slumber by the sound of a military jet soaring overhead, right?

The flights are scheduled to take place through Sunday.
