First, there was a mystery boom which spawned several conflicting reports and the initiation of a short-lived late-night Twitter meme. Then today, a whole string of totally smashed cars along the 1000 block of Euclid Street. No one reported hearing the cars be smashed, and nobody, not even police, are really sure what the hell happened. (UPDATE: Just as I posted this, the cops say that they know for sure it was not a supernatural being who damaged all those cars. But hey, maybe it was a really creepy looking old guy; you know, that way whole Poltergeist angle doesn’t have to die.)

I suppose if a rowhouse in Mount Pleasant caves in on itself, then we’ll really have a sense of what we’re dealing with.
