Authorities have taken the man who hit the White House with a gunshot last Friday into custody, according to a bulletin from WTOP.

Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, who is also known as Oscar Ramiro Ortega, was reportedly taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police at a hotel in Indiana, Pennsylvania around 12:35 p.m. today. A federal law enforcement task force — involving representatives from the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, U.S. Park Police and the Secret Service — had been assembled this morning to search for Ortega-Hernandez after a bullets believed to have been fired from his weapon were found on the grounds of the White House.

Ortega is believed to have fired a Chinese-made assault rifle from inside a vehicle at the intersection of 16th Street and Constitution Avenue NW last Friday night before dropping the weapon and fleeing on foot.

Ortega faces one felony charge of carrying a dangerous weapon, though it is possible more charges could be leveled considering his stint as a fugitive.
