DCist contributor James Calder stumbled upon quite an interesting site this morning — a taxicab that had apparently lost control and found its way onto the steps of the Chevy Chase Pavilion in Friendship Heights. (Something tells us that this isn’t exactly the kind of “doorbuster” the stores inside the mall were looking to host.)

According to witness reports, a car that was traveling westbound on Western Avenue sometime before 8 a.m. attempted to make an illegal left turn on to Wisconsin Avenue. That maneuver caused the cab in question to lose control and find its way up the main steps of the shopping center. Several other cars which were also damaged in the incident.

According to Calder, the accident has caused the entire block of Wisconsin Avenue at Western to be shut down to traffic, which is obviously creating quite the traffic mess this morning. There’s no word if anyone was hurt in the accident yet, though an ambulance was on the scene.
