It’s not often that the home of a member of the D.C. Council is raided by the FBI, but that happened this week, along with lots of other things.
- We said goodbye to Aaron.
- The Hot Chocolate 15K/5K Race at the National Harbor was an epic fail.
- A Dupont Circle ghost bike was removed. Again.
- Montel Williams tried to sell Ward 5 on his medical marijuana plans, cultivation center applications appeared all over the city, the owners of Capitol Hemp turned themselves in to police and we learned of a new use for a soda can.
- Occupy DC protesters tried to remain healthy, the National Park Service asked them to stop occupying and the protesters listed their grievances.
- We debated whether fare increases should come before service improvements, and the D.C. Taxicab Commission seemed to hear that only a small fare increase should be considered.
- In local politics, Councilmember Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) filed for re-election, disagreements emerged ahead of a debate on ethics and when that debate happened, ethics and elections became intimately acquainted.
- The Caps got themselves a new head coach and D.C. got closer to sports-themed license plates.
- We made a monumentally stupid mistake when it came to someone’s life and death and Capitol Hill demanded that Moby apologize for shaking their windows.
- We took a look inside the Brewmaster’s Castle, celebrated the renaissance of Italian beers, reported that more cops could come to after-hours events and found a new D.C. restaurant that was planning on charging — for tap water.
- We reviewed local Etsy holiday offerings and rounded up local holiday markets.
- We interviewed Afro Blue Director Connaitre Miller, reviewed the Corcoran’s Are We There Yet? and previewed December’s theater offerings.
- We hosted a contest for a DCist t-shirt design and charity that would benefit from the sales.
