Ummm, yeah, so about that weather…
The National Weather Service has put basically the entire Mid-Atlantic under a Tornado Watch until 9 p.m. While that doesn’t mean that we will be hit by a tornado, it means that the conditions are certainly ripe for them forming.
The last tornado to hit D.C. was in 2001, though it did very little damage. Before that, a tornado hit the National Arboretum in 1995, doing $50,000 worth of damage. In 2001, though, a tornado tore through the University of Maryland campus, killing two. Video of that tornado is below.
