Arlington, D.C.! Well, that’s what Google maps says.

Well, it was a brave occupation while it lasted.

A reader tipped us off to the fact that Google has gone and corrected an error on Google Maps—pictured above—that listed a small portion of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport as being in D.C., instead of Arlington County. The update map more accurately lists the entirety of the airport as being in Virginia, much to our chagrin.

While the airport is fully Virginia’s now, it wasn’t always—as we’ve written before, it wasn’t until after the airport was built that Congress stepped in to clarify that yes, it was actually in the Old Dominion. The original jurisdictional fight stemmed from the fact that the airport was built out of land dredged up from the floor of the Potomac, and Virginia’s boundary starts at its high-water mark—for legal purposes, the airport was originally D.C.’s.

But no longer.
