Police in Maryland have said that Neil Edwin Prescott—who had referred to himself as a “joker”—told a co-worker over the phone on Monday that he was planning on launching an attack against his employer, a subcontractor for Pitney-Bowes, which was readying to fire him. “I am a joker and I’m gonna load my guns and blow everybody up,” he reportedly said.
After police were warned of the attack, they learned that Prescott had 13 guns registered to his name. During a Thursday night search of his home in Crofton, police found more than 20 guns and more than 400 rounds of ammunition. They also found Prescott wearing a shirt that won’t likely help his case—it said, “Guns don’t kill people, I do.” (The shirt is available for sale online, if you’re interested.)
Prescott is being evaluated in a medical facility, and will likely face state and federal charges. Prince George’s County Police are referring to Prescott’s action as a “thwarted terror threat.”
