The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden’s ice skating rink opened for business last week, beginning the season where we all pretend to be professional skaters and end up falling on our butts. (Just me?) Here’s a guide to skating rinks that are in D.C. proper or are easily Metro accessible. It will be updated as more information becomes available.
Sculpture Garden Rink
Open now until mid-March
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Cost: $8 adults, $7 seniors (age 50 and over), $7 students (with school ID), $7 children (age 12 and under) and $195 season pass. Skate rental $3.

Washington Harbour Ice Rink
Open now until March
Hours: Monday-Thursday, Noon. to 9 p.m.; Friday, Noon to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Cost: Adults $10 and children $8. Skate rental $5.

Silver Spring Ice Skating at Veterans Plaza
Open now until March 25
Adults $8, children under and seniors over 55 $7. Skate rental $3.

Pentagon Row Ice Rink

Fort Dupont Ice Arena
Open year-round, as it’s an indoor rink
Public skate hours: Friday, Noon to 1:50 p.m; Saturday, 11:45 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Cost: Children (12 and under) $4, adults (13 and older) $5, seniors (65 and older) $4 admission. Skate rental $3.

Canal Park Ice Rink
Opens mid-December due to the unfortunate rupturing of a pipe. No exact date is available yet, but may be in two weeks. Update: Opening December 16
Hours: Monday-Friday, Noon to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Cost: Adults $8, children under 12, seniors over 55 and military personnel $7. Skate rental $3.

Lake Shaw Ice Rink
Opens mid-December. Update: Will not open this year.
