An Alexandria, Va. Councilman wants his city to amend parts of the city’s code that are so insanely outdated reading this post may give you a headache.

As the Old Town Alexandria Patch reports, Justin Wilson has proposed striking from the code a requirement that new “streets running in a generally north-south direction shall, insofar as possible, bear the names of confederate military leaders.”

The Councilman also wants to get rid of the section on “lewd and lascivious cohabitation,” also known as “living together while unwed.”

If any persons, not married to each other, lewdly and lasciviously associate and cohabit together, or whether married or not, be guilty of open and gross lewdness and lasciviousness, each of them shall be guilty of a class 3 misdemeanor; and upon a repetition of the offense, and conviction thereof, each of them shall be guilty of a class 2 misdemeanor.

Wilson’s ordinance will be introduced to the Council tonight and subject to a public hearing on January 25. Bring your popcorn.
