An adult man and a juvenile were shot near Mt. Vernon Square this morning, authorities say.
According to a Metropolitan Police Department public information officer, authorities responded to reports of gunshots in the 1300 block of 6th Street NW around 9:45 a.m. this morning. Upon arrival, two people—an adult and a juvenile—were found suffering from gunshot wounds. The adult was shot in the leg, but the officer did not say where the juvenile was shot. Both were conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived.
Police also said that they don’t believe this incident is related to the Ferguson demonstration currently happening in downtown D.C., as the site of the shooting is “too far away” from the protester’s current location.
