Metro is substituting buses for trains on several lines this weekend, and trains will run between 10 to 24 minutes due to maintenance work.
Maintenance crews will be working on the lower level platform at L’Enfant Plaza, which means no Blue or Orange Line service at the downtown station. Instead, Metro says riders can take free shuttle buses between Smithsonian and Federal Center SW stations, tacking on an extra 10 to 20 minutes to their travel plans.
And on the Red Line, buses will replace train service between Silver Spring and Forest Glenn stations, which will set passengers back about 10 minutes, according to Metro.
Across the system, track work is taking place on the Red, Orange, and Silver Lines, in addition to the Yellow and Blue Lines, which will run every 15 to 24 minutes due to SafeTrack’s 13th surge beginning Saturday.
Green Line passengers will be the only riders not affected by maintenance work, and the line will run on a regular weekend schedule.
