Holy crap! There was a tornado in the Tidal Basin yesterday, and the rest of the weekend promises to bring another deluge. Nevertheless, we’ve got some recommendations to keep you dry and having fun.

FRIDAY:
>> Talented local artrockers Metropolitan hosts a record release party at the Black Cat for their third CD, “The Lines They Get Broken.” Aqueduct and Federal City Five open. 9:30, $8.

>> The Brindley Brothers, local musicians and owners of Jammin’ Java, play a set tonight at JJ at 7:30. $10 will get you into see the duo whose melodic, literate guitar pop has garnered comparisons to Wilco and the Gin Blossoms.

SATURDAY:

>> The three-day pet madness continues at the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo & Convention Center. You can buy pets, buy pet products, ride pets, and pet pets. Bonus: your own pet is welcome, as long as they’re leashed. $9, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

>> The Freer Gallery hosts a daylong festival of four Japanese anime films at Meyer Auditorium. Tickets for all films will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10:30 a.m. Gilles Poitras, author of “Anime Essentials” and “The Anime Companion” will be there to introduce the films and sign books. >> The crowd-pleasing Cherry Blossom fireworks show goes on tonight at 8:30 p.m. at the Southwest Waterfront (Waterfront-SEU on the Green Line). Things get started around 5:30 p.m. with music and children’s games.

SUNDAY:
