So the Pope-watch late last week distracted us from keeping an eye on neighborhood news. We’ll do a quick summay. Forgive our tardiness.

First off, Loose Lips in the Washington City Paper is massively confused about Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham. The lede says it all: “You can count on one thing from Ward 1 D.C. Councilmember Jim Graham: He’s a tough guy to count on.” From supporting to opposing Mayor Williams’ take-over of the D.C. schools to briefly challenging now-former Councilman At-Large Harold Brazil to supporting mayoral hopeful Adrian Fenty it’s hard to read the tea leaves. But wait, Adrian! You “may soon be joining baseball supporters and Williams in an exclusive D.C. club — victims of Jim Graham flip-flops.”

Time to get the Wilson Building flow chart out …

(Read it before the City Paper pushes this past week’s Loose Lips to archival safety.)

Getting the Embassies Out of Kalorama, an ex-Senator’s House and ‘Rowdy Patrons from Virginia.’ From last week’s Northwest Current, we learn about a few interesting developments in the city’s Northwest quadrant, but because the Current newspapers aren’t online, you’ll just have to settle for our summary.

First, some of the normally sedate residents of Kalorama are peeved over some of the diplomatic outposts in the exclusive neighborhood … known, well, for its diplomatic outposts.
