
… Wait, Google already does. Google has now put forth its Google Earth feature. It’s in its beta testing period but here’s what you’ll be able to do:
— Fly from space to your neighborhood. Type in an address and zoom right in.
— Search for schools, parks, restaurants, and hotels. Get driving directions.
— Tilt and rotate the view to see 3D terrain and buildings.
— Save and share your searches and favorites. Even add your own annotations.
Nikolas ® Schiller‘s says “…Google Earth has some features that are blowing me out of the water right now. I need to play with it a bit more to really find out it’s strengths and weaknesses.”
And look here, it’s Washington. The White House is on the left, the Washington Monument is front and center. And toward the right, that big hulk of a building that’s accidentally covering Independence Avenue, that’s the Department of Agriculture. So Google has some fine-tuning to do, but this all looks awesome. We wonder if the feds will get testy and cite terrorism concerns and have Google scale back its detailing of the Capitol and White House …
