Good morning. If you’re looking for something to do tonight, today is the date of the monthly iPod DJ night at Cafe Saint-Ex. Yeah, yeah, after being featured in the Post, USA Today and WUSA’s 11 o’clock news, it doesn’t quite have the same cachet as the early days, although we have heard attendance has declined to reasonable levels after a peak. Tonight at 12:01 they’ll be asking DJ’s to switch to French music to celebrate Bastille Day. The photo is from a Fort Reno concert earlier in the week. Today temps will be in the upper 80s with a 50 percent chance of showers in the afternoon.

Hospital Plan Unveiled: Howard University and District officials have proposed a plan to construct a new hospital at the former site of the D.C. General Hospital and shift some of the departments from Howard’s existing hospital, the Post and Examiner report. Although some have questioned the $400 million price tag, or argued a new hospital would be a “misguided” approach to the city’s health problems, the hospital has received cautious support from some city leaders.

Traffic Jam Planned: Officials say that work at the Wilson Bridge this weekend that will reduce the beltway to one lane and closing off a number of ramps could produce the mother of all man-made traffic jams. According to the W. Times, “[officials] anticipate that even half the normal Saturday traffic will result in 10- to 15-mile backups and delays as long as 90 minutes.” For more details check out the Wilson Bridge website. Luckily for us our primary mode of transit, Metrobus routes in D.C., will be unaffected.
