AU President Under Fire: A probe into the finances of American University president Ben Ladner has apparently uncovered fraud. According to a letter sent to members of the university’s Board of Trustees and reported in the Post, Ladner “charged the university over the past five years for their son’s engagement party, presents for their children, a personal French chef, vacations in Europe, maintenance of their personal residence in Maryland ‘including garbage bags,’ and wine up to $100 a bottle for lunch and dinner.” Yikes! We expect the website BenLadner.com, which the president previously tried to shut down, will have additional coverage soon.
Security Company Bounces Employee Checks: A security company hired by the D.C. public schools has bounced at least a dozen paychecks to their employees in recent weeks, the W. Times reports. The company, Hawk One, claims the problem was due to a financial mix-up.
