This week in music is all over the place, going from indie, to folkie, to blues, and yes, modern rock.

MONDAY
>> Start your week off with influential musician (and apparent Meat Puppet) Curt Kirkwood performing solo @ IOTA. If you’ve heard of a little CD called “Nirvana: Unplugged in New York,” you’ll enjoy his original of “Plateau” which we can assure you is no less creepy. With Mike Maloney. $13, 8:30 p.m.

>> Noisy Pop from Montreal comes to the 202 with Bad Flirt (pictured), tonight @ DC9. We see the comparison to Lush. They are touring in support of their EP 6 Ways To Break Your Heart. $8, 9:30 p.m.

>> “The Rhythm Road,” a free Monday night concert series at National Geographic Live!, kicks off tonight. The series promises top performers of jazz and urban funk music, and right after work. Tonight’s lineup: Agora Latin Jazz Quartet at 6 p.m. and Toni Blackman Hip Hop Ensemble at 7:15 p.m.

TUESDAY
>> Roadhouse rockers come to Wilson Boulevard’s IOTA to bring country (with a little c) into your life. Hailed as “one of the greatest young songwriters of our generation” by Rolling Stone , see AJ Croce jump from jazz to Americana to blues on guitar and piano. We’ll forgive him for the horrendous clip art “doors” on his Web site. Accompanied by local folkie act These United States. $12, 8:30 p.m.

>> Groove Gumbo is an event planning and promotion outfit for the D.C. neo-soul movement, helping local acts such as Jill Scott and Raheem DeVaughn step onto the national stage. At “Pookie’s Gallery,” an event this and every Tuesday, the musical collective hosts DJ sets, poetry and live acts at Mirrors. $5 before 8pm, $10 after 8pm. 7:30 p.m. – midnight.
