FRIDAY:

>> It’s going to be a stormy, steamy night in the District, so we’d recommend heading over to catch one of the Capital Fringe Festival’s most buzzed-about plays, Rorschach’s The Arabian Night, at the Sanctuary Theatre at Casa Del Pueblo. The space doesn’t have air conditioning, so take a cue from our theater critic: “All in all, the dreamy, smoldering Arabian Night is worth every sweltering moment. But follow the cue of the play’s scantily-clad roommate: dress for the weather.” Tonight’s 8 p.m. show is sold out, but you can always wait in the standby line or try to snag tickets for Saturday and Sunday; check for tickets and showtimes here.

SATURDAY:

>> Still haven’t visited the newly reopened Smithsonian American Art Museum? Consider making a day of it for the East Coast premiere of Dream of the Pacific, an opera by Stephen Mager and Elkhanah Pulitzer. This “Family Opera” performance will feature young artists from the Washington Opera’s Center for Education and Training.

>> In perhaps the greatest Mandarin-to-English translation of a film title in the history of the world, Gordon Liu directs and stars as a prince whose older brother is looking to rub him out. Wang Yu plays the title character, a scrappy fighter who agrees to come under the prince’s tutelage, in, yes seriously, Dirty Ho, showing at 11:30 p.m. at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center.

SUNDAY:

Don’t miss out on Theater Alliance’s very brief, three-day run of the work of renowned Mexican puppetry company Luna Morena — in fact it will be the first time the company has ever performed in the United States. Shadows, dream within a dream is a tribute to the work of Edgar Allen Poe, and is also part of the Capital Fringe Festival. You can buy tickets here. 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., also Friday and Saturday.
