Even Shadow Senator Paul Strauss had a car in the parade. And a classic one, to boot.

>> District darling Marion Barry has entered a plea of not guilty on charges surrounding his September traffic stop. Police allege the Ward 8 Councilman was intoxicated and driving an unregistered vehicle when they pulled him over near the White House. Barry says federal authorities are trying to “embarrass and discredit” him. Sounds like tough work for the Feds. In the past year alone Barry plead guilty to federal tax evasion and tested positive for both marijuana and cocaine.

>> Four men, including two juveniles, were wounded this morning when gunmen opened fire at 18th and M sts., NE, near the National Arboretum. Seventeen shell casings were found at the scene. The neighborhood has been the scene of several other shootings and two murders in past months.

>> Mabel, fill up the Hummer! Gas prices in the D.C. area are now below the national average. But wait! Don’t park that gas-guzzler anywhere near the 2300 block of Good Hope Road. Or anywhere else on a Saturday. A new study reveals the oh-so-shocking news that cars are more likely to be stolen in economically depressed areas. Also, unlike the rest of us, car thieves prefer working on the weekend.

>> Georgetown: typically home to wealthy co-eds, Washington old money and shopping tourists. Tonight it will be taken over by the nonfiction junkies, conspiracy theorists and people who’d rather watch books than read them. The film version of Fast Food Nation is having a free screening at the Loews in Georgetown. Sadly, no more passes are left. The fictionalization of Erich Schlosser’s stomach churning expose may scream “hot mess” but it was directed by Richard Linklater who recently tackled social issues in A Scanner Darkly. Missing out? Go home, make yourself a salad and watch Super Size Me.
