Even Shadow Senator Paul Strauss had a car in the parade. And a classic one, to boot.

Happy day before Thanksgiving, everyone. The holiday weekend isn’t getting off to the most auspicious start here at DCist, since our browser keeps crashing before we get a chance to save our work, thus the lateness of the usual morning roundup. But really we feel worse for those of you about to head out of town today, whether by car, plane, bus or train, everyone seems to be predicting the worst holiday travel day in the history of the world. In fact, if you are traveling, what are you doing still sitting at your desk? You should totally have left already — it’s even going to be raining all night tonight. We’re all doomed, I tell you. Doomed!

Fenty Walks Alone: Aw, shit. The Washington Post has the local political establishment drooling this morning over the first signs of trouble from Team Fenty. It seems the Mayor-elect failed to consult anyone except for future city administrator Dan Tangherlini over his choice of D.C. police Cmdr. Cathy L. Lanier to replace Chief Ramsey. Fenty didn’t even talk to key advisers who have police and public safety experience about his decision, and, as you might imagine, those folks are a little miffed. There’s a lot of language in the article that suggests many people already see Fenty as a petulant child who ought to have to ask permission before he crosses the street, though Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham seems to be sticking up for the Mayor-elect’s right to make decisions on his own. As for us, we of course can’t get enough of this kind of speculation, and look forward to more stories about the inner workings of Adrian Fenty’s mind in the near future.

Robbers Nab Christmas Gifts: Ahh, it truly must be the most wonderful time of the year if people are already stealing Playstations. A woman who had just purchased gifts for the children of an injured Iraq veteran was attacked and robbed outside Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg on Monday. Let this be a lesson to us all: Doing nice things for people never gets you anywhere.

Briefly Noted: Metro might buy 500 buses … Terrorist attack on Capitol “inevitable” … Inauguration protesters settle out of court with District.

This Day in DCist: We wondered whether Brad and Angelina were shopping for a house in D.C. and speculated about the draw of the then-new Regal Gallery Place Cinemas.
