Afternoon, D.C. Hope you’re enjoying your Tuesday, and that your holiday shopping is getting done. Ours sure isn’t. Here’s some news for you all to get you out the office door.

>> We know some people who won’t have any problems affording all the items on their Christmas lists this year. The D.C. Council just voted this afternoon to give themselves a raise, making themselves the highest-paid officials in the area. The Post gives us the numbers: “Adrian M. Fenty [goes] to $200,000 from $152,000 annually. The council chairman will earn $190,000, up from $142,000. Council members will earn $115,000. The current salary for a council member is $92,530.” Nice work if you can get it. [Washington Post]

>> If you’re anything like me, you love tooling around town on your bike. But sometimes you just need to hop on public transportation to get to certain places. But who can get you and your bike best from place to place? TheWashCycle gives us the rundown on the good, the bad and the ugly of public transportation and bikes. [TheWashCycle]

>> If you’re in the mood for oysters, head on over to Hank’s Oyster Bar on 1624 Q St. Nw. They recently started a $1-per-oyster happy hour, that’ll run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. [Metrocurean]
