Many apologies for bringing you the arts agenda a day late this week — we’re getting darned worn out by all these great events going on lately. Visual art continues to stampede the city throughout April, and this weekend brings us a four-day festival as well as the continuation of the two huge exhibition projects sweeping the metro area. Get your fill below, just remember to stay hydrated as you enter the middle of this marathon.

>> Wondering where the hell all the political art went? Aren’t we in a war? Isn’t half the administration being deposed at any given moment? Didn’t the Supreme Court just give a vicious shake to one of the most emotionally fueled political issues in the nation? Multimediale fills the void with their festival Capturing the Capital! Aiming to bring political art back with a bang in the place political art should feel most at home, these artists will be participating in some guerrilla art, as well as a regular schedule of free events over the weekend. Be sure to catch the show at Provisions Library, where you can find performance and installation art from noon to 7 p.m. through Sunday. Stay afterwards tonight and see the screening of You are my torture / I am your chamber, which examines the media in politics today. Check out the rest of the schedule for artist talks, panel discussions and more.

>> The Artomatic party rages on this weekend, so if you missed the packed opening reception last weekend, set aside some time in your evening to go check it out. (Actually, even if you did make it, go back anyway — I, for one, spent a few hours there last Friday and never even made it to the second floor.) Tonight you can catch a bunch of films in the Lapis Auditorium, with shorts running from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and selections from the DC Independent Film Festival from 8 to 10 p.m., followed by another set of shorts. Meanwhile, you can find some great live music and dancing on the Cabaret Stage. Saturday night check out the sirens on the Electric Stage all night, but break to see the fire performance in the Courtyard at 9 p.m. Sunday is your day for workshops and a whole heck of a lot of poetry. And don’t forget, this is all in addition to the big-ass visual art exhibit inside. All events are free.

>> Meanwhile, ColorField.remix is showcased at a few more galleries starting this week. We’re sorry to have missed the opening of Sondra N. Arkin’s show at the Nevin Kelly Gallery last night, but you can check it out Saturday between 12 and 8 p.m. or during its other regular hours. You can also see what’s up with Washington Color – The Next Generation at the Alla Rogers Gallery in Georgetown tonight at the opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Keep your eye on the ColorField.remix project as it leads into the next WPAC Experimental Media Series and then finally merges into artDC at the end of the month.
