Power Back After Storm: Most of Pepco’s Maryland and D.C. customers have electricity back this Monday morning, after severe thunderstorm left thousands without power Sunday. Dominion Virginia Power customers were harder hit, with hundreds still reported to be without power this morning. Crews spent this morning clearing downed trees that blocked streets in D.C.
Fatal Shooting Prompts Closure of H2O: Posh Southwest waterfront nightclub H2O has been ordered temporarily closed by D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier after a man was shot and killed just outside the club. The victim, Nelson Able Jr., 39, of the 500 block of Webster Street NW, is alleged to have been shot by Rashod Holmes, 26. Both men were ejected from the club for fighting just before the shooting occured, around 3 a.m. Holmes then turned his gun on a D.C. police officer working security detail at the club, who then shot and wounded Holmes. Holmes is expected to survive.
