Above is one of the many short videos we found on YouTube from this past weekend’s Capital Pride Parade (and if dancing men dressed as cowboys in short shorts isn’t safe for your work, then this is NSFW), and it got us thinking. We couldn’t be happier with the community of excellent photographers that’s developed out of our DCist Flickr Pool. But we like running funny, interesting, or beautiful videos just as much as we do still photos.
We won’t be starting up a Video of the Day just yet, but we’d like to encourage all of our readers to tag any YouTube videos they might like to share with ‘dcist.’ Whether you caught something on your camera on your way home from work that you think everyone should see, or spent a few hours over the weekend editing together something more creative, if you tag it with ‘dcist,’ we’ll be able to find it easily and consider running it on the site.
Keep in mind, short is better — we’re much more likely to run something that’s under two minutes than a 30-minute film. Also, please adhere to the same common sense as you would on Flickr before you tag a video for us: it should be about D.C., happening in D.C., or made by Washingtonians. We look forward to seeing what you’re up to!
