Good morning, Washington. We have to admit it — we have a soft spot for cheerleader-related crime. And this is a good one: the AP (via WTOP) reports on the case of Anna Lois Miles, a cheerleading coach who is charged with holding an illegal gambling event to raise money to… wait for it… repay bail money she borrowed from the parents of a girl she coached after being arrested for writing bad checks! Hurrah! Ms. Miles has pled innocence.

Chick-Fil-Aaaa: The beltway is a mess this morning thanks to an overturned Chick-Fil-A tractor trailer. The accident occurred around 6 2:30 a.m. and is now fully cleaned up, but its effects are lingering. The driver, who fell asleep at the wheel, will be charged with reckless driving according to WTOP.

Immigrant Workers Feeling Job Pressure: The Post reports on the lot of illegal workers in the region — it’s not good. Local municipalities’ recently enacted and pending crackdowns have combined with a slowdown in construction to dramatically reduce illegal immigrants’ opportunities for work. There’s at least one bright spot for the affected, though: Frederick County has just failed to pass a measure that would have denied county services to illegal aliens.

This Day In DCist: One year ago we were pondering the fate of the Whitehurst and the Metro was full of love. Two years ago Benjamin Ladner’s tenure at AU ended in controversy.
