A mother and a young child in a stroller were hit by an SUV at the intersection of Aspen Hill Road and Georgia Avenue in Aspen Hill this morning. The child reportedly has suffered serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The driver apparently remained on the scene after the accident. Around 10:20 a.m., the two were struck by the SUV, which was traveling north on Georgia Avenue. WUSA reports that authorities were performing CPR on at least one of the victims. The Post relays that bystanders said that the child was not breathing when authorities arrived. The child is believed to have been between 14 and 24 months old, and was taken to Children’s Hospital, according to TBD. Northbound Georgia Avenue in the area has been closed for the last hour or so as police investigate what happened.
