In February, Ward 1 resident Maria Cardona signed a nominating petition to get Bryan Weaver on the ballot for the April 26 At-Large Special Election. According to Interim Councilmember Sekou Biddle’s campaign, however, Cardona is one of 1,417 questionable signatures on Weaver’s petitions.
But she’s also Weaver’s wife.
Cardona’s inclusion on Biddle’s suggested list of signatures that the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics should throw out — which would effectively knock Weaver and fellow candidates Jacque Patterson and Patrick Mara off the ballot — is but one of a number of notable D.C. voters that Biddle’s campaign is accusing of not being registered voters, filling out the wrong address or otherwise messing up when they signed nominating petitions.
