Screencap of the accident scene courtesy NewsChannel 8.D.C. Fire and EMS crews responded to the scene of a collision involving an adult female cyclist this morning at the intersection of 14th Street and Constitution Avenue NW near the National Mall. The cyclist ended up being trapped underneath a vehicle. She was eventually extricated, evaluated on scene by paramedics, and transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
As you can see from the image to the right, the accident basically shut off access to 14th Street along the Mall during the close of the morning rush, with vehicles having to turn east or west along Constitution to avoid the scene. 14th Street reopened to traffic around 10:10 a.m.
