The Baseball Report: Mayor Anthony Williams took his case to construct a stadium in D.C. with public funds to national television yesterday. The Post notes that in addition to a meeting tomorrow, the D.C. council might meet again before Christmas. WTOP reports that up to 20 percent of the $50,000 spent by opponents of the stadium “came from Robert Siegel, an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner whose business would have to move to make way for the stadium.” They report his 11 properties include sever gay nightclubs, a gay porn shop, and adult theaters.
Racism Considered as Motive in MD Arson: ATF agents have told the W. Times they are considering revenge and racial animosity as potential motives in an arson which caused $10 million in damage in rural Maryland. The Times reports, “two of the four suspects in custody made racial statements to investigators during questioning,” noting the suspects are white and many of the families moving in to the development are black.
