>> As reported by DC Art News, two new galleries have joined the D.C. arts scene. Emma Mae Gallery, founded by Sandra Butler-Truesdale, has opened at 1515 U St. NW. JET Artworks opens Friday in Elizabeth Roberts’ old space at 2108 R St. NW. The gallery’s inaugural exhibition features the work of Conor McGrady, Greg Murr, Gregory Euclide, Michel Tsouris and Ken Bucklew.

>> Also new this week is “Adam Fowler: Theme & Variation,” opening Thursday at Flashpoint, where we found the image above. The exhibit features abstract paper cuts and graphite drawings by the D.C. artist.

>> Gish Jen, author of “Mona in the Promised Land,” will read from her new novel,”The Love Wife,” at the National Museum of Women in the Arts on Friday at 7 p.m. A book signing and reception will follow the reading. This event is $10 for the general public and $7 for NMWA members.

>> Murky Coffee in Clarendon will display paintings by Meghan Taylor and photography by Abby Greenawalt starting this Saturday. DCist is planning to stop by the Opening Reception on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. You can learn more about Meghan Taylor’s work at her website.
