Yeah, it’s raining (this DCist left his umbrella at the office, super!) and there are weather-related problems all over the region, including flooding. And look at the traffic from this D.C. traffic cam looking at the Suitland Parkway approach to the Frederick Douglass Bridge in Southeast. And it’s going to be in the 20s tomorrow morning. Summer was bound to end sometime. And there are 15-minute delays on the Yellow and Green lines in both directions.

How was your commute this morning?

So Does This Mean We Should Set Up a Quarantine Zone? The Post reports that a “winter vomiting disease” is spreading in Northern Virginia from east to the northwest. And as the Post says “[f]or 24 to 48 hours, it lays waste to its victims.”

This “protracted” vomiting is technically a norovirus that shares similar symptoms with food poisoning. And it can strike in the most inopportune times, as the Post reports.

[Katherine] Riddle’s only warning was a few minutes of dizziness while she was teaching an afternoon flute lesson at her house. “And then, boom!” she said. She ran for the bathroom and threw up. The lesson ended quickly, but her vomiting went on and on and on. “I was doing it for the rest of the night. It was incredible.”

Incredible indeed. Everyone wash their hands. Now.

He’s Back: Michael Newdow, the Sacramento father who tried to get the use of “God” in the Pledge of Allegiance declared unconstitutional is back in D.C. This time, he’s aiming to stop public prayer at next week’s Inauguration, the Post reports.

See Terrorists? Call This Number: The Metropolitan Police is enlisting the help of local businesses to help fight terrorism. When someone sees suspicious activity, all one needs to do now is call the TIPP line, which is part of Operation Terrorism Incident Prevention Program. We assume you don’t have to be a local business to use the number to report the presence of evil-doers, so call (877)-YOU-WATCH. When you think you see a potential terrorist (or their vehicle of choice), be sure jot down these categories as they’ll help those at the TIPP line better investigate your claim and if they really are terrorists, apprehend them too.
