New Visitor Center to Feature Tennessee Marble: The new Capitol Visitor Center now being constructed will contain “sandstone from Pennsylvania, granite from Minnesota, [and] pink and cedar marble from Tennessee,” according to the AP via the Examiner. The center’s indoor spaces will be decorated with distinctive Tennessee marble, only available from one remaining active mine.
Bandy in the Streets and Other Crimes: The Post reports, “You can’t dye rabbits in Prince George’s County, play football on the streets of Washington or cheat on your spouse in Virginia,” for their article on ‘quirky ordinances’ and efforts to remove them from lawbooks. Despite an effort in D.C. to remove outdated legislation, according to the article it is illegal “to play bandy, an old field-hockey-style game, football and ‘any other game with a ball’ on the streets or alleys, under penalty of up to $5 for each offense.”
