Good morning Washington. Have you ever wondered why the WB advertises its show “Gilmore Girls” on bus shelters? Has anyone actually watched the show? (Apparently it takes place in Connecticut.) So Where Would the Plane Have Come Down? One question we had sitting in the back of our mind during the whole air raid episode two weeks ago was what would have happened if the Cessna hadn’t banked to the right before heading straight into the center of the city? Well the Post says that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld gave the military the authority to shoot the plane down. So we guess this is a good reminder for those in Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan and Kalorama (wait, isn’t that where Rumsfeld lives?) to review your air raid procedures.

Speaking of Small Planes … Reagan National Airport is going to be re-opened to some private planes. WTOP reports that a plan will be announced today where 48 private flights will be allowed in and out of the airport, as long as the pilot has gone through extensive background checks and there’s an armed law enforcement officer on board.

A Big Box Embrace, or a Big Box Backstabbing? Is the city pro-big box or anti-big box? Well it depends which city official you ask. The Post reports on the “contridiction” — as Ward 5 Councilmember Vincent Orange calls it — of the City Council considering anti-big box legislation while courting them at the same time at trade shows.

Briefly Noted: There’s more traffic camera enforcement coming … Neighborhood commissioners may get legislation to protect them
