Good morning, Washington. The Post reports today that an agreement has been reached on the development of the National Capital Medical Center. Howard University and city officials yesterday told the paper that a deal is complete outlining the placement of the $400 million hospital on the site of the former D.C. General Hospital in Southeast. The city will contribute $212 million toward construction, though Howard remains noncommital on how much care will be made available to the uninsured.

Dueling Ehrlich Stories: Different takes on Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich in the dailies, this morning. With a shitestorm of epic proportions brewing on the Hill, the Post features a call by the Maryland Democratic Party for Ehrlich to return $16,000 he received from the Jack Abramoffs (the missus, too). Over at the Times, the Ehrlich coverage consists of a look at his 2007 budget, entitled, “Ehrlich increases funding for college.”

Harassment Behind Parks and Rec Departure: Darnell Thompson, Sr., maintenance chief for the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation, left his job last summer after “a complaint was filed against him with the city’s Office of Human Rights,” the Post reports. The story notes that Thompson first drew attention in 2001, for hiring a group of former welfare recipients, most of which were female. At present there are three allegations against Thompson.

Post Has Pointless Story: Steven Ginsberg breaks the news that Governor Tim Kaine has spoken to thousands of Virginians on how to solve the region’s transit problems, and as yet, they have not reached a consensus.
