Friday, the day we wait for with giddy anticipation. In addition to the weekend being just around the corner, there’s one more reason to be pumped up: tonight, you can hear a sneak preview of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs new album “Show Your Bones” before the album hits store shelves on March 28. Hosted by DCist and Interscope Records, the good times and good listenings will take place at Cue Bar, 1115 U Street, NW, starting around 9 p.m. We hope to see you there.

Three Separate Shootings Overnight in District: Last night was not the best of nights in regards to District shootings — three shootings occurred in Northwest and Northeast. NBC 4 reports that the first incident happened about 2:15 a.m. on the 400 block of Quackenbos Street, Northwest. Around 3:30 a.m., police rushed to the scene of 1300 block of Seventh Street Northwest when it was reported that shots were fired. At about the same time, in the 1300 block of First Street, Northeast, a third shooting occurred. A total of five people were shot, and three died.

MoCo Police Chief Speaks Out Against Online Forum: We know that online comment forums can get a little, er, out of hand at times. But in the case of an online forum for Montgomery County police, the comments have gotten downright ugly. The Post reports that MoCo Police Chief J. Thomas Manger has “called on the department’s union yesterday to take down an online message board that some police officers have used as a forum for disparaging, and sometimes racist, remarks about colleagues, supervisors, immigrants and other members of the community.” To Protect and Serve, huh?

Tyson’s Metro Plan on Shaky Ground: The much-talked about plan to bring Metro to Tyson’s Corner seems to be hitting more than a few snags in the road — yesterday project managers rejected a plan to make the Metro stations tunneled, which would be more more aesthetically pleasing as well as allowing the surrounding lands to be more walkable than having them placed above-ground. Cost seems to be one of the main reasons for the rejection. As one who works out in Tyson’s everyday, I’m not entirely sure there is anything that can be done to make the area pedestrian-friendly — just walking from Tyson’s Galleria from Tyson’s Corner Center is a lengthy, harrowing and, when running across Chain Bridge, death-defying experience.
