Good morning, D.C. Thanks to everyone who joined us for Unbuckled last night — DC9 was packed for what we think was our best show yet. We had a great time, and we hope that you did, too. If you snapped some pictures while you were there, do us a favor and tag them on Flickr with unbuckled3 so that we can round ’em up in one place.

Now that your concertgoing and drinking responsibilities have been dutifully fulfilled, you deserve some vacation. Enjoy what a looks like it’s going to be a beautiful three-day weekend (aside from the, um, hail later today). We’ll be here when you get back.

Whitman Students Charged In Robbery: “There’s a fine line, sometimes, between going out and having a good time and committing armed robberies.” Those words of wisdom come courtesy of Maryland State’s Attorney Doug Gansler. He was referring to the five Walt Whitman High students who were charged yesterday with the armed robbery of a Smoothie King. NBC4 brings us the details of the alleged robbery: the kids netted $463 and celebrated at Pizzeria Uno’s. Other key quotes from the story include their principal being “disappointed” that the students made “idiotic decisions”, and the aforementioned Gansler lamenting that the crime was committed by young men from “good families” with “bright futures”. Hmm… What’s that noise? Could it be the sound of affluent white kids getting probation?

Supporters Rally For Purple Line: We mentioned the then-upcoming Purple Line rallies on Monday. Now WTOP reports on the first of the three events. Supporters congregated at the Bethesda Metro station yesterday to raise support for the $1-$3 billion project. No word on whether they changed any minds, but if you missed yesterday’s rally and feel like being convinced you’ll not only have two more chances to see the rallies, but also four opportunities to go to a Purple Line open house.

Bay Shows Continued Signs of Recovery: Good news for the Chesapeake: it appears that its underwater grasses, which are considered to be a bellwether of Bay health, are doing well. Total grass coverage is twice what it was when the survey of the grasses began in 1984. But we’ve still got a ways to go — scientists say that current coverage is still only half what it ought to be.

This Day In DCist: One year ago today we featured places to discover old guns and new bugs, reviewed a Kehinde Wiley show, and discussed why nobody was going to be getting a Taste of D.C. in 2005.
