All too often, for the sake of diplomacy, people don’t say what they really mean. Some institutions (i.e. Congress) have turned this into an art form, couching the most egregious of insults in flowery language. Fun to parse, but not very straightforward. Now imagine a world in which everyone comes right out and says what they mean. We here at Overheard would love that because it would give us a lot more material with which to work, but it might mean the end of civilized discourse. However, it would be a lot more fun picking next semester’s college courses.
Quote of the Week
NW D.C. college classroom:
“What did I call next week’s lecture?…Lessons in Voting Behavior I? What I really should call it is, Are People Really Stupid?“
After the jump, she can’t understand you when your foot is wedged in your mouth, forever’s diminishing return, and people to avoid on the Beltway.
