FRIDAY:

>> Don’t forget to check out our guide to the Six Points Music Festival as it takes over the town in its second weekend. We’re going to once again heartily recommend you head to Iota to catch Unbuckled alums Middle Distance Runner headline a show that also features Unbuckled alums These United States, plus Pittsburgh’s Black Tie Revue. Get there early — this is going to be a packed house for sure. $10, 9:30 p.m.

>> Special discounted tickets are available this weekend only for Rorschach Theatre Company’s production of Jose Rivera’s References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot. This is what our critic had to say: “Rivera’s full-drawn characters are the soul of Salvador Dali, but director Shirley Serotsky’s staging is a testament to what Rorschach does so well; creating a transformative experience in a limited space. The cracked floors with pulsing red undertones; the moody blue metal sky; all set the scene for a work that not only seduces us, but challenges us.” Tickets are only $15 for the shows tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m. Head here to purchase.

SATURDAY:

>> Of course, we’ve already given you several good reasons to take advantage of this weekend’s WalkingTown DC events, which includes 60 free walking tours of neighborhoods all over the metro area. But here’s one more of the plethora of free tour options available to you this weekend to tempt you: Alley Living in Capitol Hill will be offered Saturday from noon to 2:30 p.m. Meeting at the northeast corner of Third Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, the tour will visit one of the city’s only remaining hitching posts as well as Capitol Hill alleys, including the cobblestone alley near St. Marks Church and Frederick Douglass Alley. Make sure to check out the entire calendar to see if there’s a tour that’s more up your alley (ba dum ching!)

>> Does the following speech sound like beautiful, beautiful poetry, perhaps even bringing tears to your eyes? “Don’t you realize? The next time you see sky, it’ll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it’ll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what’s right for them. Because it’s their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it’s our time. It’s our time down here. That’s all over the second we ride up Troy’s bucket.” If so, allow us to inform you of a special screening of The Goonies at the DCJCC. Film starts at 8 p.m., with an 80s Movie Trivia night to follow. $9.

>> English electronic duo Hot Chip comes to the 9:30 Club Saturday for an early show, 6:30 p.m. doors. The band plays everything live with no computers or samplers, and their album “Warning” won wide praise from critics. The single “Over and Over” was named best of the year by NME, and “Boy From School” was one of our favorite songs of the year.

>> Jamaican Richie Spice added touches of dancehall to his neo-roots reggae songbook at his most recent appearance in town at Zanzibar. Now this charismatic, energetic performer is back, but this time at the Crossroads in Bladensburg, which recently instituted new safety procedures in response to pressure from Prince George’s County. $25, doors at 10 p.m.

SUNDAY:

>> It’s Earth Day! We recommend you spend what’s promising to be a beautiful day outdoors at the National Zoo, helping to plant 1,000 tree saplings. The trees, donated by Whole Foods Market, will be planted along Rock Creek in the Zoo, near the Harvard Street entrance. Garden gloves are recommended. 10 a.m. to noon.

Andrew Wiseman and Steve Kiviat contributed to the Picks.
