Baltimore’s Dan Deacon has quickly become a code word for cool in that city’s white hot experimental music scene, and he’ll be playing with Brooklyn’s Beat the Devil, led by throaty singer Shilpa Ray, and local trance/hip-hop duo Food For Animals. $8, 9 p.m.
>> Like we mentioned in This Week in Jazz, the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage will feature the International Association for Jazz Education Sisters in Jazz Collegiate All-Stars, a jazz combo comprised of some of the best female jazz students in the country. The shows start at 6 p.m. (also Saturday). Free.
>> The Sounds in the Square concert series kicks off tonight from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Farragut Square Park. R&B/Blues artist Teri-S will perform to add a little fun to your walk home from the office.
