>> ArtOutlet presents its first ever Flash animation film festival, called Flick, at Warehouse. Tim Bracken opens the event with an alt-country set at 7 p.m., with screenings from selected artists beginning at 8. $5 suggested donation, also Saturday.

SATURDAY:

>> Like we mentioned in this week’s music agenda, the artwork of Mingering Mike, the man behind those famous hand-drawn fake 1970s era LP and 45 soul record sleeves, is out in book form: Celebrate the release of Mingering Mike — The Amazing Career of an Imaginary Soul Superstar with a book signing, party and exhibit at Hemphill Fine Arts. Book signing 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., opening reception 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

>> Don’t be surprised to find the streets lined with Vespas this weekend. Scooter owners across the region will converge on the so-called Atlas District on H Street NE to share their love of all things Vespa and going sorta not really all that fast. Scootergate 2007 includes an early show Saturday at the Rock and Roll Hotel featuring The Ambitions and The Breakups.

>> The Dupont Kalorama Museum Walk Weekend gives you a chance to check out some of the few museums that charge admission in this city for free. Anderson House, Fondo del Sol Visual Arts Center, Mary McLeod Bethune Council House National Historic Site, Meridian International Center, National Museum of American Jewish Military History, The Phillips Collection, The Textile Museum and Woodrow Wilson House will be open free of charge on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Be sure to check out the full list of special offerings associated with the event.

>> The UK’s Pipettes bring their Supreme’s-inspired pop and choreographed dance moves to the Black Cat tonight, with Smoosh and Monster Bobby. 9 p.m., $10.

SUNDAY:

>> The new Georgetown boutique Cusp is starting a series of in-store acoustic performance every Sunday in June they’re calling the Summer of Sound Acoustic Festival. This Sunday kicks off the series with Brandon Butler and Laura Burhenn of Georgie James at 3 p.m.

>> The ubiquitous Calvin Johnson, K Records founder and front man of Beat Happening and Dub Narcotic Sound System, is touring in support of his recent record of “reimaginings” of songs from his past, Calvin Johnson and the Sons of the Soil. There’s some great tracks on there, including “Banana Meltdown” and “Can We Kiss” … though it looks like we’re going to have to shout out for “Dub Narcotic Express.” In the Black Cat Backstage, with Julie Doiron, 9 p.m., $10.
